Generations Brand Changes
A few years ago we made some changes,
a summary
Our oak flooring was promoted through the company name of ‘Generations’, now known as ‘Charles Lowe & Sons’,
and the main flooring range - our speciality, hand-planed oak - used to be ‘Tudor’, we now call ‘Generations’

The Story
‘Generations’ and ‘Charles Lowe and Sons’ have always been one business, the same family, running the same very old firm, nothing has really changed, so why and what did we change with our name and our product names?
First lets go back 125 years.
Around 25 years ago we started selling our oak flooring under the trading name of Generations and set up a dedicated website - generations.co.uk.
At the time we wanted to differentiate the oak flooring and the traditional cabinet-making side of the firm.
However, over time we realised a few things;
Our customers hugely valued the unique authenticity that Charles Lowe & Son’s heritage could add to their projects.
The name ‘Generations’ didn’t convey this legacy, it didn’t sound like the very traditional and mature business that we truly are!
Also that ‘Tudor’ was not a unique name in the world of oak flooring, rather a cliché in fact!
And the traditional cabinet-making side of the business became harder to sustain on its own.
The decision was made to re-brand the flooring side of the firm
we should say de-brand!
Always the same business anyhow ‘Charles Lowe & Sons’ again became the trading name that our specialist hand-planed oak flooring was sold under.
